How much the privacy coins and pools tracked on this site are used, day by day: transactions on Monero, Zcash and Aztec, and deposits, shields and private transactions in Tornado Cash, Railgun, Privacy Pools and Privacy Cash. Use is the other half of the picture, beside the value locked. The Live panel below shows transactions as they arrive.

The list shows the newest 20 transactions and blocks when this page was written, at 04:12 UTC on 18 Oct 2026, with times in UTC. The live view needs scripts.
This shows what every public node sees: that a transaction happened and, for fixed-denomination pools, which pool. Nothing here links transactions to people.
The events are read live from the Tornado Cash, Railgun and Privacy Pools contracts on Ethereum through PublicNode, Monero through the public nodes run by Cake Wallet and Seth for Privacy, Zcash through ZecBlock, the Privacy Cash program on Solana through Solana's public RPC, Liquid through Blockstream's Esplora API and Aztec through Aztecscan, and kept for 7 days. Hashes link to public block explorers.

Total value locked (TVL), the measure behind most figures on this site, counts the money held in a protocol at one moment. It says nothing about how many people use it or how often, and its dollar value rises and falls with the prices of the coins inside. For privacy, use matters as much as value: a pool hides each user among the others who deposit and withdraw around the same time, its anonymity set, so a pool that holds a lot but is rarely used gives each user little cover.
Privacy coins have no TVL at all. Monero and Zcash are used by sending transactions, so the number of transactions is the nearest measure of their use. On 17 Oct 2026 Monero carried 23,799 transactions, and 3,126 Zcash transactions used a shielded pool.
For the pools, deposits and private transactions show the crowd that TVL leaves out. On 16 Oct 2026 Railgun's four deployments recorded 388 private transactions; on 17 Oct 2026 Tornado Cash's four ETH pools took 298 deposits. DefiLlama put Railgun's TVL at $112.2M and Tornado Cash's at $681.3M on 18 Oct 2026.
The counts measure use, not users. One person can make many transactions and one service many more, and none of these sources can tell them apart, so a single busy user can move a day's figure. Trends over weeks and months say more than any one day.
Daily from 18 Apr 2014 to 17 Oct 2026.
Transactions on the Monero blockchain in each UTC day, not counting the coinbase transaction that pays each block's miner, as Coin Metrics counts them (TxCnt). Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount of every transaction by default, so the count covers all of the coin's private use.
A transaction is not a person: one user can send many, and a service can pay many people in one. Coin Metrics said on 28 Oct 2025 that some community metrics would be retired, without naming them. Once a week the site recounts a day from public nodes' block headers as a check, and it would switch to that count if the metric went.

Daily from 28 Oct 2016 to 17 Oct 2026. The dashed line marks Ironwood's activation. zeczcash.com's split for 16 Oct 2026: 859 fully shielded and 2,475 mixed transactions; by pool, 3,144 Ironwood, 114 Orchard and 191 Sapling (a transaction using two pools counts under each).
Transactions on the Zcash blockchain in each UTC day without the coinbase, and those among them that use a shielded pool, whether fully shielded or moving value between transparent and shielded addresses. Shielding is optional in Zcash, so the shielded share shows how much of its use is private.
A transaction that touches a shielded pool is not always fully private: a mixed one still shows its transparent side. ZecBlock and zeczcash.com classify some transactions differently and neither defines the edge cases: from 10 to 15 Oct 2026 zeczcash.com counted 43 to 63 more shielded transactions a day. The count steps up from 28 Jul 2026, when the Ironwood pool activated at block 3,428,143 and Orchard closed to new deposits, with funds moving across; how much of the rise is that migration has not been established.

Events in Railgun's contracts on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum in each UTC day: shields, which bring tokens into Railgun, and private transactions, which spend notes inside it, including those that unshield tokens back out. The counts come from the indexers that Railgun's own wallet software reads.
Events are not people, nor even blockchain transactions: one Ethereum transaction can carry several private transactions (on 15 Oct 2026 the Ethereum indexer held 286 in 233 Ethereum transactions). Unshields are part of the private transactions and are not counted again. The indexers publish no terms.
| Chain | Private transactions | Shields | Share of private transactions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | 7,823 | 4,176 | 55% |
| BNB Chain | 1,498 | 430 | 11% |
| Polygon | 1,106 | 805 | 8% |
| Arbitrum | 3,678 | 1,234 | 26% |

Daily from 10 May 2022 to 17 Oct 2026. Over the 30 days to 17 Oct 2026, 2.2% of shields and 1.5% of unshields were in tokens without a price here and are left out.
The value of tokens shielded into and unshielded out of Railgun on Ethereum in each UTC day, in US dollars at Coin Metrics' closing price for that day, for ETH (as WETH), USDC, USDT, DAI, WBTC and LINK. Amounts are net of the fee recorded with each event.
Tokens without a price here are left out, and the share of events left out is given under the chart. Only Ethereum is priced, not the other three chains. Shielded and unshielded values are kept apart, since adding them counts money that comes back out twice.

Complete days from 29 Jun 2020 to 17 Oct 2026; a day is left out until its deposits are all read. Older history is still being read from Blockscout and fills in over the coming days.
Deposits into Tornado Cash's four ETH pools on Ethereum (0.1, 1, 10 and 100 ETH) in each UTC day, read from the pools' own Deposit events. Each pool takes one fixed amount, so a pool's deposits times its size is the ETH it took in.
Only the ETH pools on Ethereum are counted, not the token pools or other chains, and only deposits, not withdrawals. Older history is read from Blockscout at no more than ten calls an hour, so it fills in over time, and a day is shown only where the deposits' leaf indexes run without a gap.

Deposits into and withdrawals from Privacy Pools in each UTC day, on every chain the 0xbow API lists: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, BNB Chain, Base and a deployment whose chain ID reads as Starknet's. It is the API that privacypools.com itself calls.
0xbow publishes no documentation or terms for the API. On 16 Oct 2026 its event list held 102 more deposits than its own statistics, for a reason not established. A Privacy Pools V2 contract created on Ethereum on 1 Sep 2026 does not appear in these events. Ethereum deposits are checked each day against the Entrypoint contract's Deposited events.
| Chain | Deposits | Withdrawals | Share of deposits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | 579 | 927 | 94% |
| Arbitrum | 29 | 56 | 5% |
| Optimism | 5 | 15 | 1% |
| BNB Chain | 4 | 6 | 1% |
| Starknet | 0 | 0 | 0% |
| Base | 0 | 0 | 0% |

Successful Solana transactions that call the Privacy Cash program in each UTC day, across its SOL pool and all its token pools, with deposits and withdrawals counted together.
Telling deposits from withdrawals would mean reading every transaction, which the public endpoint is not meant for. Privacy Cash's documentation says it also runs on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Base and Robinhood Chain; those deployments are not counted. Failed transactions are left out.

Transactions included in Aztec mainnet blocks in each UTC day, as Aztecscan reports them (it calls them tx effects). Private and public transactions are counted together.
Aztec labels the network Alpha. On 7 Aug 2026 it disclosed a critical vulnerability in the V5 proving system, said its contributors could not tell whether it had been exploited, and told teams to treat V5 funds and applications as exposed. V6 is planned for later in 2026; if it starts a new rollup, the count starts again. Aztecscan calls its API a work in progress.

Every figure is for a complete UTC day, from 00:00 to 24:00 UTC, and the daily job collects them after 01:20 UTC. A day appears once its source has finished it. Each series was filled back as far as its source allows; where that takes many calls, as for Tornado Cash's history, the gaps fill in over the following days.
Where a second source counts the same thing, the two are compared for the newest day both have:
| Figure | Day | Shown here | Compared with | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monero transactions | 15 Oct 2026 | 29,252 | 29,252 | The same |
| Zcash transactions | 16 Oct 2026 | 5,892 | 5,892 5,882 | zeczcash.com: the same; Coin Metrics: 10 fewer |
| Zcash shielded transactions | 16 Oct 2026 | 3,279 | 3,334 | zeczcash.com: 55 more |
| Privacy Pools deposits on Ethereum | 17 Oct 2026 | 24 | 24 | The same |
| Tornado Cash deposits so far, four pools | 18 Oct 2026 | 297,237 | 297,237 | The same |
