No Swiss statute or FINMA rule found in this review bars holding privacy coins or listing them. FINMA Guidance 02/2019 of 26 August 2019 applies Article 10 AMLO-FINMA, which requires information on the client and the beneficiary to travel with payment orders, to blockchain transfers, so until a supervised firm can exchange that information it may only send to or receive from external wallets proven to belong to its own customers or to third parties it has identified. From 24 to 28 November 2025, Zurich City Police, Zurich Cantonal Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office Zurich, working with Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office and Frankfurt prosecutors and supported by Europol and Eurojust, took down the Cryptomixer mixing service, which Europol said was suspected of facilitating cybercrime and money laundering, seizing three servers in Switzerland, the cryptomixer.io domain and more than EUR 25 million in Bitcoin.

Self-hosted wallets

Ownership proof since 26 Aug 2019

Under FINMA Guidance 02/2019, a Swiss supervised firm that cannot send and receive travel rule information may transfer to or from an external wallet only if the wallet belongs to its own customer, or to a third party it has identified, and ownership is proven using suitable technical means.

FINMA Guidance 02/2019 of 26 August 2019 applies Article 10 AMLO-FINMA, which requires client and beneficiary information to travel with payment orders, to blockchain transfers and notes that, unlike the FATF standards, the article has no exception for payments involving unregulated wallets. A transfer to or from a third party's external wallet requires prior identification of the third party and its beneficial owner and proof of its ownership of the wallet, an exchange transaction involving an external wallet also requires proof of the customer's ownership, and no minimum amount is set. Article 14 of the anti-money laundering rules of the self-regulatory organisation VQF (version of 1 January 2025) sets the same conditions for its members, requiring the customer's control of an external wallet to be checked by suitable technical measures. As an example of practice, Dukascopy Bank lets a client register a withdrawal address only after a message-signing procedure, repeats the check every three months and for transfers above an unstated threshold, and may ask for a small unique micro-transaction for deposits from undeclared addresses.

Privacy coins and wallets: No FINMA rule found addresses privacy wallets or shielded addresses specifically; the ownership-proof requirement applies to every external wallet whatever the coin.

Exchanges and their restrictions

The 14 exchanges on this site, with the 32 spot markets they list for the seven coins, as checked on 13 Oct 2026. The exchange data records where each listing is restricted as text, so this page quotes each passage that names Switzerland, and marks the cells it comes from. An exchange with no such passage has no restriction for Switzerland on record here, which does not mean that it is licensed there or open to its residents. A listing is not an endorsement.

Self-hosted wallets for the seven coins

The nine wallets on the Wallets page that hold at least one of the seven coins, with the coins and platforms each supports.
